Shoreline Discovery Trail
Located at the beautiful Spanish Municipal Marina
and Four Seasons Complex
The Shoreline Discovery Trail is part of a Network of multi-use trails
that resulted from a collaborative effort between five municipalities which included
Mississauga First Nation, Town of Blind River, Municipality of Huron Shores,
Township of the North Shore, and the Town of Spanish.

This network of trails is known as Lake Huron North Channel Historic Trails.
Each stop along the Lake Huron North Channel Historic Trails are designed to present the
history of our region based on the following categories, European Contact, First Nation, Industry, Geology, Flora and Fauna, and Recreation.
Funding and support was proudly provided from Fed Nor, Northern Ontario Heritage Fund,
and Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC), Living Legacy Trust,
Ministry of Natural Resources, and Cameco.

How to Get to the Trail
Turn onto Trunk Road and drive to the very end. Turn right on Public Road. Turn left onto Garnier Road until you reach the Municipal Marina and Four Seasons Complex.
Look For These Signs Along the Roadways.
Plenty of parking is available at the Complex. The Complex offers explorers of the hiking trail, picnic tables, dining inside the complex, resting lounge with TV, and restrooms.
Don’t forget to bring along your camera and binoculars.
Refreshments, snack, and film can all be purchased at the gift shop inside the Complex.

Trail Features
Access to the trail is adjacent to the marina basin.
Walk down the access road until you reach the Paddlers Wheel Pavilion.
A stairway climbing the rocky bluffs leads explorers to an observation gazebo that
offers spectacular views of the Spanish River Delta and the Whalesback Channel.
Step past the Wind Turbine and enjoy your journey along the Shoreline Discovery Trail.
Keep in mind that past this point involves more challenging terrain.
Visitors traveling the trail will experience more breathtaking views of the Channel,
such as interpretive panels that represent the history of the region, and they
will encounter several habitat areas including a beaver pond and a grassy wetland
which are unique landforms to the region.

Trail Etiquette and Safety
These important safety tips should be followed
with caution to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
- Never Hike Alone. Tell someone when you plan to return.
- Stay on marked trail
- Leave behind with pictures, not litter
- Please keep dogs on a leash. Stoop and Scoop
- Do not disturb plants and wildlife.
- Be prepared for natural conditions.
- Ensure your children are within sight at all times.
- Wear appropriate hiking/walking shoes.
- No Motorized Vehicles Allowed on Trail.
Trail Map
The Shoreline Discovery Trail is approximately 2.5 kms in length
and takes approximately 1 hour to complete
The Shoreline Discovery Trail is located adjacent to the Municipally owned
Marina and Four Seasons Complex.
The trail is well marked and proudly maintained by the Municipality.
Interpretive Panels can be viewed along the trail providing interesting and
educational references in regard to the areas geology, history, recreation, fauna, and wildlife.
Access to the trail is FREE and Plenty of Ample parking is available.
Restrooms, Snacks, Refreshments, and Souvenirs can all be purchased
at the Gift Shop inside the Complex.
