| Town Council
The governing body of the Town of Spanish is Council.
It consists of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and three Councillors. Members of Council are elected for a three-year term office.
The Town Council meets the first Monday of every month and on the third Monday
of the month. Meetings are held at the Municipal Office, 8 Trunk Road.
Having both legislative and executive responsibilities, Council deals with matters which require policy direction, bylaws or bylaw amendments and responses or actions to pertinent issues.
Town Council is responsible to all citizens of the town and must weigh each of its
decisions accordingly. Council must ultimately meet the needs of the entire community
and act in the best interests of the town as a whole.
During its review and decision making progress, Council has an obligation to recognize the
efforts and activities that have preceded its deliberations. Council should have regard
for
the public involvement processes that have been completed in support of projects, and Councilors should be prepared to discuss their rationale for their decisions in light of that public involvement

Rick Story
Councillor
"As a member of our community also, I believe our tax dollars must be spent wisely and with the best value possible. To maintain our Town's character and standard of living, we must endeavour to maintain present tax levels, reduce any wasteful and frivolous spending, repair, and improve our infrastructure, provide cost effective policing and focus on the care and well being of all our residents, especially our seniors and youth. Our quality of life begins with our by-laws which should be based on common sense, be enforceable, and cost effective. I will be out in the community and available to listen and act on your behalf and I will always get an answer to your questions."
